About This Job
Performing a leading role within the TMT team you will be entrusted with advising, structuring and handling a wide spectrum of complex legal and regulatory issues in the technology, telecoms and competition sectors. You will be tasked with advising on cutting edge technology, dealing with a wide spectrum of innovative products, undertaking analysis as to how they may affect third party rights. You will be required to proffer expert advice on the regulatory frameworks that are applicable in the EU, particularly within the technology space. The candidate will also be expected to be proficient in and opine on matters relating to competition law transcending regional boundaries as we assist our international clients, and preferably also have some exposure to handling public procurement matters.. In the performance of your professional duties, you will be exposed to a wide variety of businesses undertakings, both local and foreign-controlled, listed and unlisted.
Job duties and responsibilities
- Advising on and drafting of complex telecoms infrastructure sharing and interconnection agreements and reference offers such as for interconnection and infrastructure access and other strategic projects
- Representing clients in discussions with telecoms regulator
- Advising on strategy and avoidance of legal & regulatory risks
- Providing complex and day-to-day advice in relation to telecoms regulations in the EU in a prompt and professional manner
- Dealing with sophisticated cota protection matters, both ex ante and ex post.
- Advising on dispute resolution matters, competition law and regulatory complaints
- Advising on and drafting commercial contracts and T&Cs for telecoms and technology companies ensuring their alignment with the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks
- Advises on complex regulatory consultations. Undertakes research on telecom regulatory subjects as international best practice
- Advising on a wide spectrum of corporate issues
- Advising on appropriate corporate governance structures and on-going governance obligations and best practices
- Assisting with the implementation of corporate structuring and re-structuring exercises
- Contributing to legal due diligence exercises
- Leading and co-ordinating business development initiatives
- Managing client relationships
- Developing and contributing towards the development of the organization’s knowledge base, by giving on-the job training, participating in academic initiatives and publishing articles and analyses
- Developing and contributing towards the organisation’s traineeship programme through mentoring and training initiatives
Qualities
- Excellent written and verbal communication in both English and Maltese
- Command of any other languages would be considered an asset
